Fiona will be attending the launch party for Radgepacket 4 from
Byker Books. If you'd like to meet her, the book's editor and various other contributors, have a glass (or two) of wine and some nibbles and get your copy of the book signed, come along to sports bookshop The Back Page in Newcastle city centre between 3 and 5 pm on Saturday 13 March. The store is located at 56 St Andrews Street, Newcastle, NE1 5SF (post code included for those of you with sat navs). Everyone's welcome - the more the merrier!

Once There Was has posted Come Friendly Bombs, a strange little flash about a teenager taking revenge on his parents, on their site. The story was 'commended' in their first flash fiction contest and you can read it free by following the link above.

'Things Aren't What They Seem', the anthology set to include Fiona's short sci-fi Boyfriend From Hell, has been cancelled prior to publication by publishers From the Asylum, who have now formally closed their doors.

Byker Books, the independent UK publisher of dark urban fiction, have accepted Lemon Sour for their fourth 'Radgepacket' anthology. The story is a short, dark tale of childhood humiliation and ultimate revenge, involving a pair of yellow gloves. The book should be out earlyish in 2010 - please check back for further updates.

Interest continues to grow in 'I Do', the charity anthology released in aid of the Lambda Legal Fund. Three review sites have recently rated it, and rated it very highly. To find all the reviews of the anthology, see the '

The future is queer - and here! QueeredFiction have released the e-book version of their time-travel sf anthology 'Queer Dimensions', which includes Fiona's story The Visitor. The print version is coming soon, on 21 September. Check out

The New Flesh (a new zine of short dark fiction) have featured Clones, a short dark sf about a science experiment with a horrible difference, in their webzine today. This story brings a whole new meaning to the idea of paper dolls....

Fiona's latest flash piece, a modern parable on the subject of bricks and mortar in only 150 words, is appearing in the latest issue (#42) of
Mslexia, a highly regarded British magazine of women's writing. The magazine is available to buy via subscription, or on a single issue 'try before you buy' offer, or at branches of some bookstores. You can find all the details, including a full listof stockists, on the magazine's 'subscribe' page.

The Pygmy Giant have published Lovers' Lane, a noir flash set in a grotty town-centre car park and describing the downside of an affair. The story was inspired by an actual event in Fiona's life - the car park, not the affair!

Concrete Jungle has just appeared on the
Ink Sweat & Tears website. Pop along now if you want to read Fiona's surrealist style poetic prose piece inspired by the gardens of Las Posas. The work was inspired by an event in the life of Edward James, a wealthy Englishman who moved to Mexico in the early 20th century and created the gardens from virgin jungle.

Fiona's flash fic Fish Out of Water is now available to read, free of charge, at British online journal
The Pygmy Giant. The story, a darkly humorous tale of a blind date, was written on a writing course, for a challenge to write a crossover between noir and another genre, in this case humour. Feel free to leave a comment at the magazine if you liked the story, or even if you didn't!

This Life Sucks, Fiona's short dark vampire tale, has taken first place in Flash Me! Magazine's regular poll to find the most popular story in each issue. The story is still available to read, free, in Issue 23 at the
Flash Me! site.
